Dear ARA Families,
Back in March, OUR TEAM faced an opponent unlike ever before. We trailed mightily after the top of the first, and things looked bleak as innings dragged on. But we always maintained that we would gradually RALLY TOGETHER…inning by inning, vowing that if we had to, we would force EXTRA innings…and we did ! But in the top of the 10th, many disturbing events grabbed our attention both regionally and nationally and made it difficult to process and move forward. Quietly however, a string of voices began to seek clarity for the health and well-being of our CHILDREN. Well, now we’re in the bottom of the 10th inning, trailing by 3, but WE have the bases LOADED… how ? Amid the turmoil, groups of dedicated leagues from all over Montgomery and Bucks and the surrounding counties solicited the UMPIRES - our elected officials - trying to interpret the rules. As their chants grew louder, once bitter league RIVALS JOINED TOGETHER in a voice of over 15,000 families across the Delaware Valley shouting “LET THEM PLAY !” (safely, of course). After MANY thoughtful, productive discussions with our umpires, the Montgomery County Department of Health has ruled that youth sports practices MAY RESUME in our area !!!!!!!!
****But, here's the thing: our children are our most precious commodities...WE MUST DO THIS THE RIGHT WAY ! SO, WE WILL HOLD A PARENT ZOOM OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE OUR FULL ARA SAFETY IMPLEMENTATION PLAN ON MONDAY JUNE 8th at 8pm. Password will be emailed. This plan will also be uploaded to our website later this weekend. Coaches will already have been made aware of the plan prior. ***We know some parents may feel trepidation in considering their child resume participation…we’d ask that you please attend Monday night’s zoom to hear our safety plan 1st and may reach out that evening to ask questions or make a final decision after.
***In order for your child to resume participation in ARA, parents must electronically sign our safety document waiver. Instructions will be sent in a separate notification as well.
Because only practice-type activities may occur in phase yellow, coaches will be eventually sending a team schedule in 2-week increments. Once we have a better understanding of the timing into phase green, we will send our remaining season schedule, but we anticipate rec activities through all of June-July, and wrapping by the beginning of August. Rest assured we will not rush into games without adequate practice for the players to re-acclimate. Our plan is to possibly begin rec league activities on Saturday, June 13 (pending LP Township re-permit approval) for our OLDER divisions, then resume activities for our youngest divisions (teeball/instructional/girls 6u,8u) at phase green.
In the meantime – 3 things to do
1) Start LABELING NAMES on all your child’s equipment/water bottle. If your child doesn’t have his/her own helmet w/cage or bat, reach out via the sportssignup app to your child’s COACH – we are trying to gather some extras as season-loaners
2) Buy some hand sanitizer at your next grocery visit…it will become a standard piece of team gear in your child’s equipment bag
3) Please view our long list of LOCAL COMMUNITY BUSINESSES who sponsored ARA this year and consider patronizing their establishments as we transition to phase yellow.
...People will come Ray, people will most definitely come …
